It has been 10 months since you went away,
You left without a word and had nothing to say.
Although it may seem that I've forgotten,
It's your birthday today, just like I've learnt.
I remembered the day we met
A rude comment you gave on the net
The argument went on and on
Till one day you admitted you were wrong
You promised a compensation and made a deal
All I had to do was accompany you for a meal
We ate at my favourite restaurant to my delight
Unfortunately that meant more than just quick bites
We met up more than we needed to
Studied, played, outings - just us two
How humbly we started out as friends
But fell in love, which made some sense
I remembered it was under the pouring rain
You asked for my hand, hoping anxiously to gain
I shyly agreed and you were over the moon
2nd November begun but it ended too soon
Thank you for the shoulder you lent
When I was sad and only had you to vent
Thank you for your close watch
It made me feel safe to the highest notch
I will never forget the memories we made
At the airport, beach, cinemas and the esplanade
You taught me how to love and never stopped doing so
Even when we argued and had our woes
Alas, good things never last
The precious memories just fell into dust
Do you even remember the planes we loved to admire?
But 2nd week of Jan we extinguished our fire
So there goes 10 months from there
For your birthday I hope you'll get something rare
Last year, you hated the presents you got
This year, I pray for something more than just happy thoughts
Happy Birthday, Eeyore.

The Entrapment -- Part 4
"The first method to capture a man's heart," Skye lectured Wilson while they were waiting outside the lecture theatre for the current lecture group to finish their lesson. "Is to play hard to get."
"I thought you already dated him," he answered back, giving her a puzzled look.
"Well, I only sms-ed him three days after the date, acting like I can't be bothered with him," she grinned as she moved aside to let some strangers pass through.
"That's still much better than me," he scowled as he followed her to the side. "I haven't had a proper date with you."
"Next, make him feel special," she went on, ignoring Wilson. She scanned the crowd for Josh and managed to catch his eye. Making sure that Wilson was watching, she waved at Josh and winked cheekily in his direction.
"Thirdly, work on his jealousy," Skye added simply, turning around to face Wilson again. "Make sure you keep close to me," she haughtily instructed him.
"Does that mean I get to hold your hand?" he asked, looking hopeful.
"Never in your damn life," she retorted back, instantly sending his expression to a crestfallen state.
The lecture theatre doors flung opened just then, and crowds began piling both in and out of the hall.
Skye made her way into the theatre with Wilson following closely behind, and she made sure they carefully walked past Josh's watchful eyes.

"Is it just me or is Josh checking you out?" Skye's classmate, Gary asked her innocently during their Physics lecture.
His name seemed to spark off an alert reaction in Wilson as he instantly sat up straight and scanned the crowd for Josh.
"Serious?" Skye asked, trying hard to suppress her glee. "Why would you be looking at Josh anyway?"
"Where is he?" Wilson cut in before Gary could answer.
"Left column, about 8 rows from the front," he answered promptly before turning to face Skye again. "Hey, I'm not gay or anything. I was checking out my girl and Josh does happen to sit nearby!"
Skye nodded in acknowledgement and followed Wilson's gaze. Sure enough, Josh was staring right back at them. When he found out that the trio was looking in his direction, he instantly turned beet red and looked away.
She then heard an audible sigh coming from Wilson's direction.

"My goodness gracious. I like your style, lady," Wilson commented as they lined up for assembly that morning.
It was a week since the Mid-Year examinations and the day where Skye would check on the results of her carefully laid-out plan.
"What's with the buttering?" she asked and she hastily pulled her skirt down a few inches when she spotted the principal loitering nearby.
"From what I found out," his voice had dropped to a whisper to avoid stares from neighbouring classes. "His grades for this exam were two As and a C. Not his usual standard of straight As. You are such a whiz."
"Excellent," Skye hissed back as she smiled politely at the principal who, just as she expected, checked the skirts of the girls in her class.
"What now?" he asked when the principal strolled away.
"Break his heart," she confidently answered, just before the student councillor on the podium screamed for the school to be at attention.
***
Skye hesitated as she placed her hand on the receiver.
It was the day where she would "break up" with Josh and she needed to organise her thoughts before she broke the news to her victim. Just as she punched in the first number, she felt a pang of guilt in her heart.
It was hard not to feel alright about the whole thing. She actually manipulated Josh's feelings for her and exploited his kindness for her own gain. Skye made a mental note never to carry out such an evil deed again.
When she proceeded with the next digit, her mind was instantly filled with thoughts about the consequence of her actions. Josh would probably never speak to her again.
At the fourth digit, a tear rolled down her cheek.
When she finished dialling the numbers, her heart felt as if it was about the crumble. She broke down in tears as she slammed the receiver back into its cradle.
She couldn't do it, and she was shocked to find herself in this state.
Instead of trapping Josh's heart as she originally planned, he had trapped hers.
Skye was in love with Josh.
